Tuvalu, All AreasTuvalu is an island group consisting of nine coral atolls in the South Pacific Ocean, about one-half of the way from Hawaii to Australia. The climate is tropical, moderated at different times by easterly trade winds, westerly gales and heavy rain.

The official languages are English and Tuvaluan. The main religion is Christianity.

The economy of Tuvalu suffers from its remoteness and lack of economies of scale. Virtually the only jobs in the islands that pay a steady wage or salary are with the government. Subsistence farming and fishing remain the primary economic activities, particularly off the capital island of Funafuti. There is no apparent large income disparity among the residents.

Expatriate business dress is relaxed but modest.

The security risk for expatriates in Tuvalu is low. Risks include low levels of petty crime.

The currency of Tuvalu is the Australian Dollar (AUD). Tuvalu is a cash based economy. Credit cards are not accepted. There are no ATMs.

Medical facilities are generally adequate for routine medical treatment. Serious or complex medical treatment may require evacuation which can be expensive. Dengue fever occurs.

The population of Tuvalu is 10,600 (2019 est.), while the inflation rate (CPI) is 4.2% for Tuvalu as at 2018.
